All Time Favorite Books for Babies

Summer time is a great time to enjoy the outdoors and you’ll always be prepared with your Summer Survival Kit and your Ergobaby Carrier. But after all the exploration, adventure and sun, what to do once you are home? Relax, unwind and read baby a book, of course! We can think of no better way to continue to bond and snuggle with baby than with a great book. Or add a book to your backpack kit for relaxing reads at the beach or on a picnic!

Here’s our list of all time favorite books for babies under one year old, which we put together with help from our expert children’s librarian.

Books for Under 1 year:

	Houghton Mifflin the Nation’s Choice: Little Big Book Theme 10 Grade K Splash! (Little big books) – Flora McDonnell Baby elephant discovers a way to cool all the animals.		Hush Little Baby – Sylvia Long Lovely variation on a traditional American lullaby; Long’s poetic and soothing words are accompanied by delicate illustrations.
	The Baby Goes Beep – Rebecca O’Connell Repetitive refrains enhance the auditory appeal of this book of baby’s everyday actions.		Baby Faces (Look Baby Books) – Margaret Miller Babies love to see photos of themselves; Margaret Miller is a master at their portrayal.
	I Like It When . . . – Mary Murphy Baby penquin and adult penguin perform many cozy and sharing actions, from reading together to hugging.		Tickle, Tickle (Big Board Books) – Helen Oxenbury Classic author portrays multicultural babies doing playful activities; short and good for infants.
	All Fall Down – Helen Oxenbury Classic author portrays multicultural babies doing playful activities; short and good for infants.		Say Goodnight – Helen Oxenbury Little ones engage in fun activities when heading off to bed.
	Where Is Baby’s Yummy Tummy? – Karen Katz Look and find book with rhyming words. Katz writes assorted titles for this age; colorful illustrations.		Choo Choo (Look Inside) – Petr Horacek Die cut pages add dimension to this train trip to the beach; great for train and movement sounds.
	Big Fat Hen – Keith Baker Traditional rhyme enhanced with more hens and chick friends.		Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes– Mem Fox Babies from all over the world have something in common (fingers and toes); rhythmic flow.
	Piggies – Audrey Wood Ten little piggies dance on a child’s fingers and toes.

Have you read "1 Is One" by Tasha Tudor or "Babies Everywhere" by Susan Meyers/Marla Frazee? Those are two of my favorites!
