Everyday Journal | Camille Guaty

Creative living and teamwork are essential to this new family. Camille Guaty gives us a glimpse into her everyday in this journal. Sometimes what we envision for our family is not the same as reality due to covid restrictions, but love, laughter, and learning are present throughout. From morning time reading to cooking and dancing in the kitchen, we are smitten with this sweet daily rhythm.

Describe your parenting style.

Well, it may come as a surprise but I’m the strict one and my husband is the softy. I’m not sure how to describe our style. We definitely work as a team. We both try to make sure he feels safe and loved. I think Morrison tries to rule the roost but we know that’s just him exploring who he is. We are practicing being firm with him but sometimes it’s hard!

What does a typical day in your family look like?

I love walking in on my son in the morning…he is such a happy, chatty, little boy. He loves his books and read over 10 of them before breakfast! We are big on cooking, so coming up with fun vegan meals and watching him eat is definitely one of our best times of the day! We are relishing in the beautiful fall/winter weather and love to spend time exploring the outdoors. Bath time is where we are learning our ABC’s and then it’s off to bed with a few favorite books of course.

How has that changed since the Covid-19 crisis?

Well, I was envisioning all of these mommy and me classes, tons of playdates, and a handful of birthday parties by now. But most days are the 3 of us learning, playing, and exploring the outdoors.

How does your family stay connected?

We do a lot of facetime! He speaks to his grandparents every day. They read him books and play games with him. It’s so sweet but also hard that, due to these circumstances, they haven’t been able to spend much physical time with him.

Tell us what brings you joy?

Making my son laugh, watching him eat, and watching him grow up.

What does home mean for your family?

I’m a homebody, so my home is everything to me. Comfy, relaxed, and inviting.

How does babywearing help you at home?

It’s changed my life!! I can make everything seem like we’re dancing but really, I’m putting on my make-up for an up-coming zoom call, washing dishes or cooking dinner…I can do absolutely anything.

If you or your partner work, how does work inspire your family?

Well, we are both creatives, so he has become one expressive little boy! My husband is. composer and Morrison loves to watch him work!
