Aerloom – The Breathable, Lightweight, Form-Fitting Baby Carrier

Adjusting to parenthood isn’t always easy. In fact, it’s pretty common for it to take a little while before you feel comfortable and confident in your new role.

The ErgoPromise is to produce high-quality products so you are able to carry your child with confidence – and that’s exactly what you can do with Aerloom. Ergobaby’s new baby carrier can help you experience new levels of confidence, comfort, and freedom – a combination of which you may not have thought possible with a baby.

Aerloom Carriers

A Back-to-Basics Approach

Parents today are expected to do it all, from raising a family to climbing the corporate ladder. They’re expected to have the perfect home and to love and praise their child but not spoil them. All these expectations have made parenting more complicated than it needs to be. Raising a child won’t always be easy, but there’s no reason to over-complicate something that is also wonderful and quite natural.

That was the thought process behind Aerloom. “We wanted to make a carrier that parents would love using and babies would love being in,” said Rodney Telford, one of the carrier designers. “We realized we didn’t need to overcomplicate the process of designing a new carrier that fit these criteria. We just needed to go back to the basics. We asked ourselves what parents really wanted out of a carrier and started designing around those things: easy to use, fits well, is lightweight, has great airflow, is ergonomic and looks good on.”

And I’ll tell you what, they nailed it. Ergobaby carrier designers have always delivered on ergonomic, comfortable and breathable products. They just raised the bar with this one.

What makes Aerloom so special?

Aerloom fits like a custom-made suit with the support and durability you’d expect – and have always gotten – from Ergobaby. This carrier makes babywearing feel effortless as it moves, stretches and forms to your body. It supports you and your baby and fits into every part of your daily life. And it’s able to do that because Aerloom is the world’s first stretch baby carrier made out of FormaKnit fabric.

FormaKnit isn’t like your grandmother knitting you a sweater. Aerloom’s innovative knit design not only creates a beautiful carrier, but also knits comfort, stretch and shape into the carrier without any seams. FormaKnit’s soft and flexible fabric is also engineered to be lightweight and breathable in all the right areas. The seamlessly integrated knit-mesh panels provide built-in airflow for maximum breathability. This is especially great for your baby’s sensitive skin and perfect for babies who have eczema since overheating can cause it to flare up.

How does Aerloom compare to other baby carriers?

Baby Carriers

What makes Aerloom so special? The differences are in the details, which are designed with you and your baby in mind.

Along with how it’s innovatively made, Aerloom is produced with post-consumer, recycled polyester and lined with 100% cotton fabric. It’s also made in small quantities and shipped in a recyclable box so it’s as good for the earth as it is for your daily adventures as a parent.

The FormaKnit design redefines comfort, for you and your baby. It has padded support at the neckline to help support your little one’s head and neck. Like other structured carriers, Aerloom has lumbar support and curved shoulder straps, however, its straps aren’t crossable like other Ergobaby carriers.

Aerloom is also one of the lightest carriers on the market, weighing only 1.45 lbs. It provides needed structure without weighing you down. It also doesn’t have any bulk so it can compress small and compact, making it easy to store and travel with.

While it doesn’t have all the padding, baby carrying versatility or features like other structured carriers, Aerloom is a sleek and streamlined option for carrying your baby or toddler. It’s easy to put on and take off, and still comes with a zippered pouch.

Who can use Aerloom?

Aerloom can carry newborns and toddlers up to 3 years old, who weigh between 7-35 lbs. You can wear your baby in one of three carry positions based on their age and development:

  • Facing in (0+ months)
  • Facing out (5+ months)
  • Back carry (6+ months).

This carrier is also designed to fit adult sizes XS up to XXL.

When should I use the Aerloom carrier?

Designed for everyday comfort and to fit your everyday routine, you can wear Aerloom anywhere and anytime. It’s great for walks, performing household chores, traveling, breastfeeding when you’re out and so much more.

How do I care for Aerloom?

Like other Ergobaby baby carriers, Aerloom is machine washable. Follow these tips before tossing your Aerloom in the washing machine:

  • Make sure all buckles are fastened.
  • Put the carrier inside a pillowcase. This helps keep your carrier and washing machine protected.
  • Use a mild detergent. Avoid detergents with bleach, chlorine, dyes, perfumes or brightening agents.
  • Machine-wash in cold water and then air-dry.

Kirsten Metcalf is a writer, editor and mother to a hilarious but very strong-willed toddler and a beautiful baby girl. She started writing short stories in elementary school and years later became a sports reporter and editor. Now, she mainly writes marketing, religious and parenting-related blog posts. Even before she knew she wanted to be a writer, Kirsten knew she wanted to be a mom. She knows being a mom is one of the most rewarding but hardest jobs out there, which is why she loves being able to share parenting knowledge and support to other moms through her writing. When she actually wins negotiations with her toddler, Kirsten likes to reward herself by watching KU basketball, eating cheesecake, or going on a Target run by herself.
