Mother and Hero

Here at Ergobaby, we love that we get to help create memories for families. Whether it’s traveling long distances, snuggling during long nights, or getting our errands done, Ergobaby is with families every step of the way to foster a bond that will last forever.

For military families, life may look different, but the special bond between parent and child is a universal language we all speak no matter what our family dynamic looks like. That’s exactly how it is for Serena and Alexa, a military family and Ergobaby lovers.

Meet Serena and Alex…

Tell us about your family.

Me and my husband met in the Navy back in 2010. We were both new to the Navy and it was our first duty station. He is originally from Florida and I’m originally from New York. We got married and had our first baby in 2014. Fast forward to 2021 we have now been happily married for 7 years and have three beautiful children.

How has parenthood changed you?

Parenthood has made me patient and showed me a love I could have never imagined. I have three beautiful souls that love me unconditionally and look at me with these big brown eyes that see no wrong. Parenthood has taught me responsibility and how to be selfless. I have a bigger purpose, I’m living for more than just myself. I have little ones that depend on me for the smallest of tasks like their next meal to the biggest of tasks like making them feel safe and providing them a home to grow in. Parenthood has its challenges but it’s by far the most rewarding responsibility.

How does babywearing help you?

I never experienced babywearing with my oldest. It wasn’t until I had my youngest that I took advantage of it. I look back and wonder how did I miss out on such a bond? Not only that but, how did I ever get anything done? My little one loves cuddles and constantly wants to be held. Babywearing allows me to tend to my toddler and infant at the same time as well as cook dinner for the family, clean, run errands, take classes, but most of all I can give an equal amount of attention to all of my children. I’m hands-free and can do everything I need to do while bonding and getting cuddles at the same time.

How does your work inspire your family?

My family sees me as a Hero. I get to do something I love, something that makes my family proud, something I can speak on with honor. My youngest is too young to understand but my son looks at me and feels safe. It breaks my heart when I have to leave my babies behind but I find comfort when my son tells me, “I know you have to go protect us.”

We’re grateful for the military families who make so many sacrifices for us. Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey.
