Omni 360

Omni 360 FAQs

  1. Do I need to use the Ergobaby Infant Insert with the Omni 360 baby carrier?
The Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier has been specifically designed so you can carry your newborn baby (minimum 7 lbs / 3.2 kg) without the need of an infant insert. Easy to use, the Ergobaby Omni 360 carrier's bucket seat gradually adjusts to your growing baby from newborn to toddler (7-45 lbs / 3.2-20 kg) to support your baby in an ergonomic M-shape position at all ages. Please refer to the label on the waistbelt or instructions to adjust the seat based on your baby's height.
  2. I find it sometimes hard to reach the chest strap on my back to fasten or unbuckle it. What should I do?
Loosening the shoulder straps BEFORE buckling or unbuckling the chest strap will make it easier for you to reach it. Make sure to position the chest strap using the sliders on the shoulder straps so it is in the middle of your shoulder blades once you tighten the shoulder straps and get a snug fit for you and your baby's comfort. You can also try using the Omni 360 baby carrier with crisscross straps when in the front carry position with baby facing parent or facing out as there is no need to reach in the back to buckle/unbuckle the chest strap: all the fastening and tightening is done on the front.
  3. Why has the weight limit increased?
We believe that extending the weight recommendation up to 45lbs / 20 kg gives you the confidence to bond with baby in your carrier longer. We've done all the work to ensure that this carrier is durable and comfortable for you and baby, up to 45 lbs / 20 kg. Enjoy!
  4. I purchased my Omni 360 carrier when it claimed a lower weight limit. Can I use my carrier up to 45 lbs / 20 kg now?
Yes, we hold our products to higher standards than industry requirements. This means your carrier has always been able to support a child up to 45 lbs / 20 kg. However, we took the extra step to retest our carriers on durability and comfortability before making this recommendation. So, rest assured!
  5. Why is the shoulder strap buckle on the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier different from other Ergobaby baby carriers?
At Ergobaby, safety is always a top priority. Given the construction of this particular carrier, we wanted to make sure that a toddler baby could not accidently open the buckles while seated facing out in the carrier as she/he has an easier access to the buckle. This is why we used double locking buckles for extra-safety.
  6. Why does the Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh have slider adjustments instead of buttons?
We're always trying to think of innovative ways to help improve your carrying experience. Slider adjustments allow you to quickly and easily adjust the setting for baby to face in to out while on the go.
  7. How should I position the head and neck support for my baby with the Omni 360 baby carrier?
Until your baby has demonstrated strong and consistent head and neck support, her/his head needs to be supported. Ensure the top edge of the carrier is at your baby's mid-ear level for proper support by positioning baby higher or lower on your body, when pulling the body of the carrier up around your baby's back. For a newborn baby, 6 weeks and under (minimum 7 lbs / 3.2 kg), fold the head and neck support on the inside, and button it to the lower buttons on the front from the side using the tabs for a tighter support. When baby starts to turn his head from side to side and to hold his head for a few moments, you can fold the neck and head support on the outside and button it to the lower buttons. This usually happens around 7 weeks. For older babies, you can also button up the head and neck support for extra support when needed, such as when she/he is sleeping. When wearing your baby facing out (min 14 lbs/6.4 kg), make sure the head and neck is folded down on the outside and buttoned to the lower buttons, and that your baby's chin is over the top edge of the carrier body.
  8. When should I wear the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier with crisscross ('X') straps?
You can wear the Ergobaby Omni 360 carrier with shoulder straps crossed on your back in the front carry position, with baby facing in or facing out. Wearing crossed straps or parallel straps is individual comfort preference. The crossed straps allow you to easily position the shoulder straps where it is most comfortable for you to wear them on your shoulders, which makes it a great feature for parents with narrower or wider shoulders. It is also appreciated by parents with less mobility as you don't need to reach in the back to fasten and tighten the chest strap, as all the buckling and fastening is done on the front.
  9. When is baby ready to be worn in the hip and back carry positions?
Every baby develops differently. You can start using the hip and back carry once your baby demonstrates strong head and neck control, can sit unassisted, and weighs 17.2 lbs minimum (7.8 kg). This is usually around 6 months.
  10. How does the Omni 360 in Premium Cotton differ from the Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh carrier?
The Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh carrier is a full mesh carrier designed to maximize ventilation to keep baby and parent cooler. It also has easy one-handed slider adjustments (instead of buttons) to narrow the seat when baby is facing out. This new adjustment makes it even easier to switch baby from facing in to facing out while on the go.
  11. How do I open the front buckles on the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier?
At Ergobaby, safety is always a top priority. Given the construction of this particular carrier, we used double locking buckles to ensure a toddler baby could not accidently open the buckle while seated facing out in the carrier. Just squeeze the 2 sides like with a regular buckle, and lift the central tab at the same time.
  12. How do I adjust the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier seat to my baby?s size?
The Ergobaby Omni 360 carrier adapts to your growing baby in just one step. Adjust the seat using the velcro tabs on the waistbelt based on your baby's height: along the red lines for a baby between 20-24 inches / 50.8-61 cm (~0-3 months), along the yellow lines for a baby between 24-28 inches / 61-71 cm (~3-9 months), along the blue lines for a baby over 28 inches / 71 cm (~9 months +).
  13. How should I wear the carrier waistbelt?
The Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier has a waistbelt with a lumbar support for added comfort. With a newborn baby, you should wear the waistbelt high on your waist so baby is close enough to kiss. When baby gets older, you can keep the waistbelt higher or position it lower on your hips. It is up to you to see what is the most comfortable for you and your baby as she/he gets heavier. For smaller babies or parents with a long torso, we recommend wearing the waistbelt higher on your body. In the event of a C-section, wearing the waistbelt higher will likely be more comfortable for you. We recommend that you always wear the waistbelt in a snug fit as it allows an even better weight distribution on your hips for more comfort on your back and shoulders. The lumbar support should always be centered on your back in the front and hip carry positions, and centered on the front for the back carry position.
  14. Can I breastfeed with the Omni 360 baby carrier? How does that work?
Yes, as with all of our Ergobaby Carriers you can breastfeed while on the go.  This can be done in either the hip or front-inward carry positions. Just loosen a bit the shoulder straps and slightly lower the waistbelt to position baby on your breast. Always stay vigilant while baby is nursing. Make sure to reposition baby in a correct position immediately after breastfeeding and be careful to not overtighten the carrier.
  15. How does the Omni 360 differ from the 360 carrier?
The Omni 360 is newborn ready and can carry a newborn starting at 7 lbs, whereas the 360 requires the use of an infant insert if you want to carry a baby under 12 lbs. The Omni 360 also has the strap buckles in the front, making it possible to wear it with crossable shoulder straps and is easy to put on and take off. In addition, it comes with a removable accessory pouch pocket which can be worn in various positions on the carrier.
  16. In which carry positions can I use the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier?
The Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier offers all carry positions, and can be used in the front carry position facing you or facing out, as well as hip and back carry positions. Please refer to the specific requirements for use and instructions for each carry position.
  17. Is forward-facing an ergonomic position for baby to be carried?
Yes, unlike many carriers available on the market, the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier is not a 'narrow base carrier', including in the forward-facing position. The Ergobaby Omni 360 Carrier ensures that babies are seated in an ergonomic, 'M'-shape position in all carry positions, including when facing out. The adjustable bucket seat has been designed to carry baby ergonomically and comfortably with knees even to hips, and a rounded spine, regardless of the carry position. The child's pelvis is gently tipped forward when placed into the carrier, so that the child's upper spine makes contact with the parent's body along its full surface, which supports the physiology of a baby's slightly rounded back.
  18. How does the Omni 360 differ from the Original carrier?
The Omni 360 allows for forward facing and does not require an infant insert to carry a newborn while the Original carrier does not. The Omni 360 also has the strap buckles in the front, making it possible to wear it with crossable shoulder straps and is easy to put on and take off. While the Original has an large zippered pocket on the front panel, the Omni 360 comes with a detachable zippered pouch. The Omni 360 also has the strap buckles in the front, making it possible to wear it with crossable shoulder straps, which the Original does not.
  19. What is the maximum weight for baby to be carried in the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier?
The Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier can be used until your baby weighs 45 lbs / 20 kg. There is no restriction on how long you can continue wearing baby in a specific carry position, this is more about your comfort and baby's comfort. We generally recommend wearing babies over 2 years old in the back position as it is the most comfortable position for longer durations of carrying with taller and larger babies. We recommend that you carry your baby high enough on your back so she/he can have a fun view of the world over your shoulder.
  20. Can I use the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier with my newborn baby?
The Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier can be used with your newborn meeting the minimum weight and height requirements, in the front carry position facing you. Your newborn baby must weigh 7 lbs minimum (3.2 kg) and be at least 20 inches tall (50.8 cm).
  21. When is baby ready to face out?
Every baby develops differently. You can start wearing your baby facing out once your baby demonstrates strong head and neck control, with his chin above the carrier body, and weighs 14 lbs minimum (6.4 kg). This is usually around 5 months. Do not use a pillow to prop baby up. Make sure to narrow the seat when baby is facing out: adjust the button seats to the inner grey buttons for the Omni 360 Cotton carriers, and adjust the slider adjustments to the inner setting (toward the center) for the Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh carriers. If baby gets sleepy or shows signs of overstimulation, turn baby around to face you.
  22. Is the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier machine washable?
Yes, the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier is machine washable as all of our carriers. Make sure to fasten all hook and loop fasteners (velcro) and buckles before washing. Use mild detergent free of bleach, perfumes, dyes, chlorine, or optical brighteners.
  23. How does the Omni 360 differ from the Adapt carrier?
The Omni 360 allows for forward facing while the Adapt carrier does not. It also comes with a removable pouch perfect for carrying your essentials while on the go. The pouch is removable and can be worn in various places on the carrier.
