Aura Baby Wrap

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I wear my baby facing forward or on my back?

We advise against the use of the Aura Baby Wrap in a forward-facing carry as it puts too much pressure on baby's spine/joints and on the wearers back, we recommend that when your baby is ready to face the world, usually around 5 months, to use a baby carrier designed to ergonomically and comfortably carry your baby in forward-facing position such as the Ergobaby Omni 360 or 360. The back carry has a greater chance of accidental injury to baby given the complex nature of the carry position with the use of a 'stretchy' wrap.

What makes Ergobaby Aura Baby Wrap so special?

Designed for fourth-trimester bonding, Aura Baby Wrap is perfect for keeping your little one close and cosy throughout the tender newborn phase. Incredibly soft and made from sustainably sourced fabrics, the Aura Baby Wrap also comes with an integrated pocket for convenient storage. Additionally, it is super easy for beginners, with contrasted stitching on the rails to help guide you in the wrapping process.

Can the Aura Baby Wrap be used for premature babies?

We suggest talking to a doctor to get more information on the different carrying options for premature babies.

Which carry positions can you do with the Ergobaby Aura Baby Wrap?

The Aura Baby Wrap is specially designed as an easy-to-tie solution for the classic inward-facing front carry position.

Can I nurse in the Aura Baby Wrap?

Yes, you can nurse in the Aura Baby Wrap. We recommend wrapping baby upright, in a tummy to tummy position, but just a bit lower and still snug, so you can bring breast up to baby. Always monitor baby closely while nursing to ensure their airways are clear and they are breathing normally. Make sure to reposition baby in the correct position immediately after breastfeeding and be careful to not overtighten the wrap.

Will my baby overheat inside the Ergobaby Wrap?

Whenever you carry your baby, it's important to be mindful of your baby's temperature. However, the Aura Baby Wrap offers a solution with its thin and lightweight material, which is ideal for an extended time of wearing. For added breathability, consider our Mesh version, which features moisture-wicking and breathable fabric that helps avoid baby heat rash and helps keep you and your baby cool and dry.

What do you mean when you say it's "One Size Fits Most"?

Aura Baby Wraps are long enough for a comfortable fit on almost any wearer and are petite to plus size friendly. Your size will only determine how many times you wrap the ties around your waist.

How do I care for my Aura Baby Wrap? Is it machine washable?

Yes, the Aura Baby Wrap is machine washable which makes it easy to clean. We suggest washing your Aura Baby Wrap in cold water (86°F) on a delicate cycle with mild detergent, and dry flat or hang/line dry. We recommend not washing it with other clothes containing zippers, buttons, snaps or hook and loop fasteners (velcro) as this may lead to fabric damages.

What makes the Aura Baby Wrap easy to store and convenient?

Our lightweight material and built-in storage pocket make it super easy for you to nicely tuck the Aura Baby Wrap into a compact fold, and conveniently toss it in your diaper bag.

I feel like my baby isn't totally secure. Am I doing something wrong?

If the wrap doesn't quite feel right, try checking 3 things: 1) tighten! tighten! tighten! making sure to use the guiding edge to pull the correct piece 2) make sure the straps across your back are flat 3) make sure the 'x' on your back is in the center of your back, or higher if carrying a bigger baby.

Can the Aura Baby Wrap be a substitute for an Ergobaby Carrier?

While both the Aura Baby Wrap and many Ergobaby carriers can be used from birth, the Aura Baby Wrap is specifically designed for the newborn phase and can comfortably carry up to 25 lbs/11.3 kg. As your baby grows older and heavier, we recommend that you transition to one of our soft structured carriers. These carriers, designed to carry from newborn to toddler, offer more structural support and can comfortably hold more weight. They include features such as padded shoulder straps, waistbelt with lumbar support, hood, storage pockets, and greater versatility in carry positions (outward facing, hip, and back carry).

What is different between the Knit and Mesh version of the Aura Baby Wrap?

The Knit version is the traditional soft and stretchy wrap, produced from sustainably sourced Tencel™ Lyocell fibers and the fabric is naturally soft and silky on baby's skin. The Mesh version is made with Recycled Polyester and the fabric is moisture-wicking and breathable, which pulls sweat away and helps keep you and your baby cool and dry.

What is the Sustainably Sourced Knit version made from and does it have any harmful materials?

The Sustainably Sourced Knit version is made with 100% Tencel™ Lyocell fibers. As with all Ergobaby products, the materials used in production are carefully sourced and thoroughly tested to be free of potentially harmful substances. Additionally, the fabric of the Sustainably Sourced Knit version is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certified and is safe for babies. To attain Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, the fabric has been tested and certified to be free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances known to be harmful to human health.

What is Tencel™ Lyocell and how is it sustainable?

Tencel™ Lyocell fibers are produced from sustainably sourced wood and certified as biodegradable. Tencel™ Lyocell fibers are produced in a closed-loop process that recycles over 99% of the water and solvent. This process leads to a significant reduction in waste and impacts to the environmental footprint, particularly when compared with viscose production.

What is the Sustainably Sourced Mesh version made from and does it have any harmful materials?

The Sustainably Sourced Mesh version is made from 93% Recycled Polyester and 7% Elastane/Spandex. With all Ergobaby products, the materials used in production are carefully sourced and thoroughly tested to be free of potentially harmful substances.

What is Recycled Polyester and how is it sustainable?

The recycled polyester used in the Aura Baby Wrap is created by transforming post-consumer plastic bottles into a new textile material. By incorporating recycled polyester in this way, we strive to decrease our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source. This not only utilizes waste but also helps to lower greenhouse gas emissions associated with manufacturing processes.

What is different between the Sustainably Sourced Knit version and the Classic Knit version of the Aura Baby Wrap?

The Sustainably Sourced Knit version and the Classic Knit version differ primarily in their fabric production processes and associated environmental impact. The Classic Knit version is crafted from 100% Viscose using a traditional process that involves chemicals. In contrast, the Sustainably Sourced Knit version is made from 100% Tencel™ Lyocell fibers, which are responsibly sourced and produced in a closed-loop process. This eco-friendly process utilizes non-toxic solvents and recycles over 99% of the solvents used, significantly reducing its environmental footprint. The updated version of the Aura Baby Wrap prioritises sustainability and aligns with our commitment to eco-conscious practices.
