We are incredibly heartbroken and saddened to learn of the devastating wildfires on Maui.
Twenty years ago, a mother living on Maui was not satisfied with the baby carrying options available to her. Looking to keep her new son close to her body, she set out to create something that was both comfortable and easy for parents to use. With that, the Ergobaby Baby Carrier was born.
Maui is the birthplace of Ergobaby. Until recently, our headquarters operated out of Maui. For us, Maui feels like home. Our hearts are not only with Maui – our hearts are Maui.
Ergobaby will be making donations to Maui United Way, Pacific Birth Collective, and to the Maui Mutual Aid Fund. They are organizing donations on the ground and providing resources for those in harm’s way. Pacific Birth Collective is working directly with expecting, laboring, and postpartum families on Maui.
As the events unfold, we will be monitoring how we can continue supporting families and we’ll keep our Ergobaby family informed of how you can help.
In the meantime, if you’d like to support the families in Maui, here are a few organizations that are working hard to get resources where they need to go:
- Maui Fire Support Resources (this link is a living document with resources being added in real time)
- Maui Mutual Aid Fund
- New Life Kahuku
- Maui Humane Society
- Maui United Way
- Maui Strong Fund, Hawaii Community Foundation
- Our Hawaii: Long term Community Organizing for Climate Resilience
- Pacific Birth Collective (also collecting needed baby supplies)
