1. Is Ergobaby safe for newborns?

Absolutely! Ergobaby carriers are designed with safety and ergonomics as a top priority. In fact, Ergobaby carriers are certified by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and meet the highest safety standards. The Embrace Newborn Carrier, Aura Wrap, Omni Breeze, Omni Dream, and Aerloom are all safe for newborns (starting at 7lbs) without an infant insert.  Some of our older designs require an infant insert to safely use the carrier because for newborns, it is essential to provide extra support for their delicate heads, necks, and spines. This is where the Ergobaby Infant Insert comes in. The insert offers ergonomic support for babies weighing 7-12 pounds until they grow strong enough to sit in the carrier without extra support.  To use the infant insert, simply secure it inside the carrier and place your baby into the insert, ensuring they are comfortably positioned with their face visible and their hips in the "M" shape for healthy hip development. 2. What is the age limit for Ergobaby carriers?

Each Ergobaby model is designed to accommodate babies of various ages and weights.

Most carriers can support newborns (with or without the infant insert) and can carry children up to 45 pounds, which is typically around the age of 4. 3. When can I use Ergobaby without the infant insert?

Ergobaby’s newest Omni carriers don’t require an infant insert. If you are using a Omni 360 or Original, once your baby weighs around 12 pounds or shows signs of neck and head control, you can stop using the infant insert. Typically, this occurs around 4-6 months of age. At this stage, you can place your baby directly into the carrier without the need for additional padding.
