Our vision at Ergobaby is a world where every family is supported, connected, and thriving. For our Creative Director, Elizabeth, a collaboration with renowned photographer and director Todd Selby, was the perfect way to bring this vision and the stories of real babywearing families to life.
“I’ve followed The Selby’s work for over 10 years and my family was also photographed by him a few years ago. He has such a warm, fun personality and really captured us doing the things we love in our home,” Elizabeth said. “I had a phone call with Todd last Spring with the loose idea. With his gift for storytelling, I could immediately see this project realized in my head. I knew that he had also worn his babies and would be able to capture snapshots of each family story in such a beautiful way.
There is something special in those early months of parenthood where the wonder of a brand new life brings magic to every moment. There is awe, hope, and discovery. It’s a season where the days feel long and the years feel short, and while there is exhaustion and confusion there is also an overwhelming amount of beauty. When Todd approached us about the project, we thought it was a perfect way to highlight real Ergobaby families at the beginning of their family journey with our Omni Dream carrier as the centerpiece.
Because of Todd’s unique ability to celebrate the little things that make his subjects one of a kind, Elizabeth knew he would be perfect for this project. His interest in characters and unique people has driven him to find creative ways to tell stories that capture everyday moments that may not be Instagram-worthy but help create the memories we cherish forever. For Todd, collaborating with Ergobaby felt like a natural extension of his love for kids, babies, and new families.
“I wore both of my kids and I loved it. That is such a special thing to be able to do with your kid and it’s kinda the best feeling wearing your kid and walking around and doing dishes and kinda carrying on with life at the same time as you’re snuggling with your child. It’s amazing,” Todd reminisced. “To me, it’s just trying to capture a moment and see what is unique about these families and their love for each other and the love for their child.”
Elizabeth is proud of how this collaboration turned out! She said, “It’s such a joy to see the four different families babywear at different stages of their child’s development. At our core, we just want to show different families wearing their babies and empower other families to babywear as well. I truly believe that babywearing can change the world!”
It’s been incredible to work with Todd to share some of the simple moments that make life truly worth living – the moments we share together as a family. What’s even more beautiful is that those moments look different for all of us! Each of these families is so unique and Todd has captured our vision so well. Over the coming weeks, you’ll meet four families and get a sneak peek of their days in a Dream.
