The Adapt carrier allows to carry your baby from those earliest cuddly moments well into toddlerhood (7-45lbs), all without the need for any additional inserts. Let's start at the beginning, how to use the Adapt baby carrier with a newborn! It's the best baby carrier in our humble opinion for the super-special fourth trimester newborn snuggles.

Everyday, we hear stories from our fans about the longevity and durability of our carrier. "I've used the Ergobaby baby carrier for over six years and through three kids!" is a common refrain we hear! We'd love to invite you to join our private community to get your input for new mamas and to hear your stories and post them on our social media for #ThrowbackThursday. While our carriers are built to last and constructed for durability, here are a few tips to extend the life of your carrier.
Teething Pads
Most babies, once they start teething, suck on the straps of the carrier. It’s right there, ready for tiny mouths, who can blame them? The PH of their saliva even changes as teething begins. Did you know that you can get teething pads for the straps, and there’s even a special teething pad and bib for the 360 baby carrier? That way, all you have to do is pop the teething pads in the wash after baby has a major suck session!

How do you choose items for your store?
At Baby’s & Kid's 1st, not only are we a family owned business but we like to think of our staff as well as our customers as our extended family. Seeing our customers on a regular basis and getting to know them and their families helps us when we are deciding what products to add to our stores. We build relationships with the people we are surrounded by on a daily basis and their opinions are not only valued, but are important.
What was the inspiration to begin your business and open your store?
Our friend Emily, a seasoned mama, shares what to pack when traveling with baby. There are plenty of pockets in the new Ergobaby Diaper Bag!
- First thing, if you’re on baby duty wear slip-on shoes. Something you can do absolutely hands-free. Thank Heavens for the mule trend! Mine are from here.
- Binky Clips – Do you know you’ll drop your baby’s pacifier on average 30 times more in a crowded airport or flight than you will in your everyday life. Just kidding, but I swear it always feels that way. Blinky Clips are a must.
- Books, Toys, Passports, wallets. The Ergo Backpack has so many options but I love the open pocket (behind the logo) for the items I need to pull out most often while in lines.
- We have kiddo sized neck pillows for the big boys on road trips, but on a flight, its so great for baby too! It keeps them more secure through naps and turbulence and I swear Raleigh slept like a rock thanks to this pillow. If you have an extra seat for them it makes for the easiest transfer
Have twins? Or maybe you are babysitting? There are definitely times when the tandem carry comes in handy to carry two babies. When my daughter was about nine months old, I used to babysit an older baby, about 18 months. We lived upstairs and I often would put my daughter in a front baby carrier and the older baby on my back to go up and down the stairs and go for walks. Just keep in mind that the baby on your back needs to be able to sit up on her own before you can attempt the back carry. Also...practice the back carry itself before you try tandem carrying! This is not your beginner carry, but once you master the back carry, it's a great tool to have in your parenting tool kit!

When your baby is about 5-6 months old and has strong head and neck control, you can try to face baby out in the All Position 360 Baby Carrier or the Omni 360 Baby Carrier. Be sure to watch for signs of over-stimulation and if baby gets sleepy, turn them back in (facing you). Our message is simple: follow your baby’s lead and respond to her cues. We acknowledge that parents know their babies best, so choose the position that works for you and your family. Once you've decided that facing your baby out is right for your baby, be sure to follow the tips below (not-so-subtle hint: USE THE GREY BUTTONS! 😂)

I’ll never forget that January day in 2013 when I was in the shower and noticed something very wrong with my left breast. If I turned in just the right light, there was a dime-sized dimple. However easily ignored it could have been, I gasped and I just knew. My heart sank. I had a 3-month-old baby and my father-in-law was losing his 17-year, brave battle with prostate cancer. This couldn’t be happening now. Not with my wife, Jill, out of town, struggling with what would be the end of her father’s life.
The Original and Four Position 360 baby carriers are designed to carry most children from birth (at least 7lbs) with use of the Infant Insert, which provides cushion and support. Infants are soft and floppy and lack the ability to hold their head and trunk up on their own. The insert provides this need support that is not present in the carrier without it. Think of a taco holding everything up and in. This keeps the airway open and provides a swaddling effect that both soothes and protects the infant. Read more about why you need the infant insert here and the importance of the infant insert here. Now watch how to use the Easy Snug Insert! You've got this parenting thing (and we're here to help if you think you don't!).
