Just hearing the words “Mother’s Day” and I feel this knot in my stomach. It’s everywhere, from radio and tv commercials to displays at Target and coffee shops. The imagery of flowers and hearts, cards and candy. So much emphasis on this day as a happy one. I can’t be the only one that feels a mix of emotions, love for my own children, yes, but also an overwhelming sense of anxiety and sadness. Since I was a little girl I remember always wanting to be a Mom. I don’t have siblings, but I played house often and looking back it was always alone. I spent a lot of time alone. Not just because I was an only child, but because my Mom was emotionally unavailable. It wasn’t until I was an adult did I have a better understanding of the abuse I suffered, emotionally, verbally, the isolation and lack of support that led to my own challenges with self esteem and feeling worthy of relationships and receiving love. Becoming a mother, our ability to have healthy loving relationships, is directly tied

Buying a baby stroller is like buying a car; It’s a big investment of money and time, and can sometimes feel like more of a hassle than it’s worth. Part of that time investment includes doing your research, looking at your options, and even taking strollers for a test drive if you can. We can’t help you with that last one, but we have put together a handy, comprehensive stroller-buying guide for first-time parents, so you know how to pick a stroller that will keep your little one comfy, happy, and safe.
Questions to Ask When Buying a Stroller
Before you even start online or window shopping, ask yourself the following logical questions:
Who will be using the stroller?
Where will we be using the stroller most?
What kind of weather will we be using it in?
What kind of storage space do we have for a stroller (in the house and car)?
How much weight can I handle?
Do we want one that you can fold up with one hand?
Do we want all those extra features, i.e. a place for drinks, storage

Please tell us a little about yourself and what you do for work.
I'm mama to two young children living in Austin, Texas where I host a birth stories podcast called The Birth Hour. My mission with The Birth Hour is to encourage women to be informed about pregnancy and childbirth and know their options while creating a community for moms to support one another through pregnancy and motherhood. The podcast has grown rapidly since its launch in 2015 with over 4 million downloads and a supportive Instagram community. This year The Birth Hour launched it's first online course that prepares couples for everything from childbirth through newborn care and even going back to work after baby!
How did you get the idea to start The Birth Hour?
When I was pregnant with my eldest, my love of (OK obsession with) birth stories began. I would google birth stories and watch youtube videos of birth until 3AM many nights, which is not exactly the healthiest practice when you are growing a human in

The Original and Four Position 360 baby carriers are designed to carry most children from birth (at least 7 pounds) with the use of the infant insert, which provides cushion and support. Infants are soft and floppy and lack the ability to hold their head and trunk up on their own. The Ergobaby infant insert provides this needed support that is not present in the carrier without it. Think of a taco holding everything up and in. This insert keeps the airway open and provides a swaddling effect that both soothes and protects the infant.

You can read more about why you need the infant insert and the importance of the infant insert on the Ergobaby blog.
How to Use the Ergobaby Infant Insert
How do you use a newborn insert? It’s really quite easy! First, attach the 360 baby carrier around your waist. Make sure it’s tight but still comfortable for you to wear. Next, take the infant insert and place it inside the carrier. The Ergobaby infant insert has

Early on I knew something was unique about my son. Everything about him just seemed more intense than other babies his age. He cried a lot, seemed behind on his developmental milestones, everything about him was just “more” summarizes how I felt at the time, and babywearing kept us all together. Looking back now I realize that I was indeed suffering from postpartum depression and some PTSD, and carrying for a high needs infant seemed to exacerbate or increase the symptoms. Breastfeeding didn’t go well, I received some really terrible advice, and pumping seemed like a special kind of torture. So we didn’t, and then came on more guilt. Not the ideal birth, not breastfeeding? What kind of Mom was I? This is where the carrier came in. It got us outside the house, this was where Chandler was most happy, and cried the least. It took me awhile to get the confidence to get out, but once I did I realized how much happier we both were. We started with walks in the neighborhood. I tried

Just like in the Omni 360 baby carrier, once your baby is able to sit up on her own, you can face her out in the Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh. But, we've made it even easier with the Cool Air Mesh Sliders! (Other milestones to consider: Once your baby can see above the front panel of the carrier, has strong head & neck control, and has a natural curiosity to see and interact with the world, they are ready for front-outward carry. This is usually around 5-6 months, depending on your baby.) And since we know that you're a mama-on-the-go (what mom isn't?!), you want to be able to switch baby easily from facing in to facing out and back again (remember if baby is getting sleepy or over-stimulated, be sure to switch her back to facing you for a nap or to calm her down). Check out how to do the #quickswitch with the Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh Sliders!Emotional Benefits of Getting Outside
Spending time in nature with your baby can strengthen the bond between you. The simple act of holding your

When I first got pregnant I had no idea what breastfeeding would be like. I just assumed it was a way I would feed my baby but didn’t even consider the difficulties or support a mother needed to get through that journey! Now 3 children later, I STILL ask for tips/help sometimes. Breastfeeding is such a beautiful thing to be able to do but it also has it’s challenges. From the initial latch struggles, to the fatigue from nursing through the night, and just having to be there on demand to breastfeed. Nonetheless there are many ways to make it work well for you through the 2 years (or less or more depending on your situation). Here are 10 things that can help you through your journey.
1. A Strong Mindset
With each baby, the breastfeeding experience will be different. You supply will vary, it might hurt more or less, you might get tired more or less, your baby might keep you up all night and so on. There’s so much that goes into breastfeeding your baby that it is a super sensitive subject

Pregnancy is an intense period in any woman’s life, filled with surprisingly rich and varied emotions, as well as visions of your future life as a mother. Amidst the joyful prospects of soon being able to welcome your little one, some expectant mothers are concerned that they may develop a postpartum mood disorder or depression. Postpartum depression is among the most disabling disorders for women in their childbearing years and the leading cause of non-obstetric hospitalization among women in the United States, affecting as many as 1 in 5 women. And because it happens during that very period where the new baby is the most vulnerable and sensitive to a mother’s mood and behavior, this depression can have a strong impact on the developing child, as well as the whole family. In this article, we will review the basic understanding of postpartum depression, and uniquely, we will describe the potential direct and indirect contributions of parent-baby skin-to-skin contact and babywearing
