Summer’s here and you deserve a little fun in the sun! Here are a few ideas for experiencing the great outdoors (in your Ergo!) with your baby. Be sure to share your adventures with us and use the #InMyErgo hashtag!
Park It
Pack yourself a delicious lunch for a good old-fashioned park visit and enjoy the picnic under a shady tree. Maybe toss a few books in your bag, too - one to read to your little one and a book of your own to enjoy while baby takes a nap. If baby is old enough, seek out the nearest playground. The bucket seat swings and sandbox time are a perfect place to start.

We love these sweet "everyday" testimonials from mamas that are featured on a round-up by Black Moms Blog.
I LOVE Ergo!! I literally take my carrier on every adventure! Baby wearing is very special to me! There is something very ancestral that awakens when I wear my baby. I imagine my foremothers walking through their village, with their babies on their back. Ergo allows me to not only “get stuff done,” but it allows me to connect with my baby on a tribal tip… comfortably.

Gas, hunger, a dirty diaper, tired, teething, sick – there are many reasons why a baby cries. Crying is your baby’s way of letting you know that something is wrong and they need you. Sometimes it’s easy to soothe a crying baby. Sometimes all it takes is you singing a song or giving your baby a bath. Other times you may not know why you have a fussy newborn so you don’t know what to do to calm them down, but you do know that you want and need to calm them down.
1. Calm Yourself Down
Babies can be very sensitive to changes in their caregiver’s emotional state. If your baby has been crying for a while and you're feeling frustrated and overwhelmed, take some deep breaths, relax your shoulders, close your eyes, and take a moment for yourself. Every time you travel by plane,

Our friend Sadie posted a beautiful post about her breastfeeding and transition to bottle journey.
When I was breastfeeding, this nursing pillow was such a great tool to help me with latch, position, and my posture. I especially loved using it at night when I was really exhausted during those 3 am feedings. It offers firm support so that it can really be helpful to me and my babe. I didn’t have to slump over to get a proper latch or to get the hold I needed with the latch I needed. My back usually aches with the first few weeks of breastfeeding and this time it hasn’t once!

Let me take a deep breath. Traveling with a toddler is equal parts challenging and adorable. First of all, toddlers require their own set of everything. If you want to roll your luggage, the toddler wants to roll their own luggage too. If you are wearing a backpack, they want a backpack. If you want a Frappuccino, your toddler is going to want their own version of the "Baby Frappuccino" too. Whatever you thought you needed for baby, double it now that you have an opinionated toddler whose tastes change as quickly as their nap schedule.
If your flight is leaving before 9am, I will not judge you for purchasing a bag of Frito's or that bag of Skittles to keep the peace. I don't know a single parent that hasn't used bribery to get their child to get from Point A to B, and Hudson News has everything your child could ever hope for when it comes to processed food bribery.
My nearly two year old protests almost everything that isn't her idea,

Being an IBCLC is more than making sure that babies get their mama's breast milk. There's a very nurturing side to many of us that are in this profession. Someone asked me what I do as a postpartum doula and Lactation Consultant. It didn't take me long to write a list of the things I do. I dedicate this to all the mama's and babies I've worked with...
I massage the feet of an exhausted mama desperately needing a gentle touch
I hold a straw steady for a mama breastfeeding her twins to quench her thirst because her hands are occupied
I catch falling tears from faces of new mamas that don't think they can make it through the night
I give reassuring glances to nervous fathers and encourage them to stay present
I listen, without judgement, to the woman that explains why she stays in an unhappy relationship
I defy culture in the context of parenting and teach mothers to use instinct rather than google
I help women make peace with their vaginas and not be ashamed of their

According to his sister Kay, as a child Keith Haring was always drawing. Although he’s associated with New York City, Keith was born in Pennsylvania. He graduated from high school and discovered quickly that he had little interest in becoming a commercial graphic artist, and moved to New York City in 1978 to attend the School of Visual Arts and be immersed in the city’s vibrant alternative arts community. Part of which was developing on the streets, and by 1980 he was drawing his signature line drawings in New York’s subways. Creating as many as several hundred by 1985. Concepts such as birth, death, love and war, immediately recognizable visual language spoke to not just a street audience, but galleries and museums as well. He even collaborated with children, other artists and in the presence of people so he could engage in real time.
Word quickly spread of his whimsical, colorful, relatable art that was easy to understand. Accessibility was

These are some of my favorite babywearing yoga poses. Poses you can do with your babe along for the ride! We all know the benefits of yoga and the benefits of babywearing. Combining them helps create a baby-friendly exercise that both parent and baby can enjoy. Yoga and babywearing are a natural fit as the meditative nature helps soothe baby and since it’s low-impact, it’s very easy to involve baby.

1. Be Open Minded
Expectant parents have a lot on their plates. From researching and interviewing pediatricians, to reading about the stages of pregnancy and development, and then everything in between, it’s easy to see how overwhelming and stressful it can be to bring new life into the world. Oftentimes new moms and dads blaze their way into parenthood with a solid set of principles in mind. While these principles often have nothing to do with those of us on the outside, our responses to them can make a new parent feel guilty or “wrong” for choosing what they did. It’s vital for the support people to listen to the mother and validate her thoughts and fears while reassuring her that the decisions she’s making for her family need only be what’s best for them, not anyone else.
2. Be Supportive of Deviations in Their Plan
Things don’t always go according to plan, and that can sometimes leave new moms feeling lost or defeated. Perhaps mom had planned

Spring is the perfect time to talk about eco-friendly and sustainable living practices. Not only is everything in bloom, full of new life, but April 22nd is also Earth Day! As parents we all want to make the best choices for our children, but often we forget to keep Mother Earth in mind. Green parenting, and choosing eco-friendly options, doesn’t have to be a tedious chore. You also don’t have to be a compost-heaping, homestead-having professional to help reduce your family’s carbon footprint. (Although if you are a compost pro, I could use some of your knowledge!) In an effort to make the world just a little bit greener, I’m sharing five super simple ways to go green as a new parent!
1. Buy Secondhand
One of the most fun parts of expecting a baby is diving into the world of baby gear! Cribs, bassinets, baby carriers, and tiny clothing… ahh! All the heart eyes! While it’s incredibly tempting to rush to the nearest baby store and stock up on all the shiny, new things, you may
